Starting from the polygon face model you created for Assignment 2, modify your model to make use of ‘clusters’ to take on the facial speech postures needed to pronounce the word ‘Happy.’ Submit several views of each new expression. Using this version create a brief animation (as a .mov file) of your face model saying the word ‘Happy.’
Clusters: I used 8 around the mouth, one for the chin, and one for each cheek.
Painting cluster weights was a pain, mainly because there isn’t a nice way to mirror/copy weights to other clusters. The component editor was my “friend” and helped me achieve some kind of mirroring through the tedious task of checking vertex values.
The word ‘Happy’ was broken down to ‘huh’+’aah’+’puh’+’eee,’ starting from a neutral face pose. Below are examples of those postures:
